Sonoma County Mycological Association

The Sonoma County Mycological Association (SOMA) is a non-profit group dedicated to learning about local mushrooms and fungi, supporting mycological research through scholarships and educating the public about the vast and diverse world of fungi.

    SOMA forays are almost always on Saturdays in November, December, February and March at Salt Point State Park. We are looking to add additional dates/locations soon!

Mushroom Poisonings

Some poisonous mushrooms occur in Sonoma County. Never eat a wild mushroom unless you're absolutely certain of their identity. If you think you, your child, or even your dog may have eaten a poisonous mushroom, seek medical attention immediately. Ideally, save a whole, intact mushroom of the same kind to show medical & mycological assistants!
